Description
LinkedInTM is a professional social network. Users create their profiles by providing primarily information about their work experience, education, referrals and current projects. In other words, a user's profile tries to reflect their resume. Furthermore, users can connect with other professionals. This allows one to create a network of professional peers that can help with finding employment or help one meet their professional goals.
In addition, LinkedInTM provides companies with profile pages that "serve as fact sheets for about 160,000 companies". These company profiles provide company descriptions, industries, types, statuses, headquarter addresses, sizes, founding dates, and websites". Furthermore, these company profiles allow users to see who companies are hiring from and those individuals' past employment, what companies past employees are moving on to, which employees are working where and which employees are being promoted.1Primarily, company profiles allow users to compare companies.
"LinkedInTM has over 36 million members in over 200 countries and territories around the world." These members include "executives from all Fortune 500 companies"2and from over 150 different industries.3

Evaluation of Social Network
If one is using LinkedInTM for its primary purposes (i.e., professional networking) it was a wonderful site. Companies can easily attract new employees and gain more insight when hiring. Also, potential employees can gain more insight into companies, creating better employment fits for a company.
However, as a way to connect with clients, LinkedInTM's company profiles only further develop a business' online presence.
