CO 50 Stitches
HANDLES (Part 1)
Row 1: P16, K18, P16
Row 2: K16, P18, K16
*Repeat rows 1 & 2 until piece measures 2-3 inches.
BODY (Part 1)
Row 1: P1, increase 1, P15, (hold 2sts on a cable needle (CN) in front, K2, K2 from CN, K2) 3 times, P15, increase 1, P1.
Row 2: K17, P18, K17
Row 3: P1, increase 1, P16, (K2, hold 2sts on a CN in back, K2, K2 from CN) 3 times, P16, increase 1, P1.
Row 4: K18, P18, K18
*Repeat rows 1 to 4 increasing 1 stitch on each end every other row until piece measures the length desired (mine was about 8” from the top).
BOTTOM
For about 3 inches, keep the cable pattern, but stop increasing.
BODY (Part 2)
Keep cable pattern while decreasing 1 stitch at each end every other row until there are 50 stitches remaining.
HANDLES (Part 2)
Row 1: P16, K18, P16
Row 2: K16, P18, K16
Bind off
FINISHING
Fold piece in half so it looks like this:


Start sewing sides together until you get to the handle section. Sew the other side. If you want a felted bag, felt it before you put the handles on and felt it now! If not, sew handles on by folding the handle flaps down over the handles and sewing them onto the bag. Weave in the ends and you are finished!
