Materials:

1 ball of Black worsted weight yarn

1 ball of White worsted weight yarn

(Approximately 200-250 Yards Total)

Size US 9 (5.5mm) knitting needles

Scissors

Gauge ruler

Stitch markers

Large needle

Gauge:

5 rows and 5 sts = 1 square inch


Instructions: (Hat is worked in the Round)

Cast on 84 Sts (Multiple of 28 Sts)

Work in K1, P1 rib for 1”.

Work 1 row in Stockinet St.

Start Pattern Chart: (Repeat 3 times around

hat)

(If you REALLY want to be creative to the

EXTREME, you may purl the “black keys” so

it appears three-dimensional!!!)

Chart Instructions:

Start from bottom right:

ROWS 1to6: *K1 Black, K3 White* around.

ROWS 7to15: *K1 Black, K2 White, (K3

Black, K1 White) 3X, K2 White, K1 Black, K2

White, (K3 Black, K1 White) 2X.

Knit 9 Rows (black) (Or until piece measures

5” from the beginning)

Top Shaping: (Decrease 7 times around)

RND3: K11, K2 Tog

RND4: K

RND5: K10, K2 Tog

RND6: K

RND7: K9, K2 Tog

RND8: K

RND9: K8, K2 Tog

RND10: K
