Auxiliary Rural Carriers, RCRs, RCAs, PTF Rural Carriers, and Auxiliary Assistance.
Employees providing auxiliary assistance or serving auxiliary routes under provisions of Article 9, Section 2.J.5, receive an EMA of 53.0 cents per mile or $5.90 per hour, whichever is greater, not to exceed the amount provided in the special equipment maintenance for the route stops and miles.
To calculate EMA (Equipment Maintenance Allowance) off the Auxiliary Timecard, Take:
1.Total Vehicle hours for the week x $5.90 / hour = Total A.
2. Total number of trips for the week x $21.20 / trip = Total B.
Compare Total A to Total B. Take the LESSER of the two totals.
1.Total miles for the week x $.53 / mile = Total C.
Compare the LESSER of the first two totals to Total C. The carrier will be paid for the GREATER of these two.
EXAMPLE:
The auxiliary card shows: 5 vehicle hours, 2 trips, and 32 miles for week 1.
1. 5 vehicle hours x $5.90 / hour = $29.50
2. 2 trips x $21.20 = $42.40
Compare the first two totals and take the LESSER = $29.50
3. 32 miles x $.53 / mile = $16.96
Compare the LESSER total of $29.50 to $16.96 and the carrier is paid the GREATER, which is $29.50.
