Honors Recognition starting with the class of 2010


Resolve: To have a new structure for honors recognition for the class of 2010.

Details:


  1. Students, starting with the class of 2010, will receive an academic honors recognition on transcripts and upon graduation based upon having a total average GPA score on all standards of 3.75 or higher


  1. Students, starting with the class of 2010, will receive a service recognition on transcripts for completing 100 hours of community service (or service learning, when that system is in place).


  1. Students, starting with the class of 2010, will receive a school involvement recognition on transcripts for being part of 4 experiences per year, including co-curricular activities, sister school, NJHS / NHS, and other qualifying activities.


  1. Students, starting with the class of 2010, will receive a special, prestigious honor if the accomplish all of the honors listed, above. This special recognition will be placed on their transcripts and on their diploma and announced as such when the diploma is received.


Narrative:

The goal is to have the class of 2010 receive, or have the opportunity to receive, more honors upon graduation than any other class at SDHS. This proposal is designed to be an opening bid

in this discussion and would be shared with Council, staff, students in the freshman and sophomore classes, parents, the Board of Directors, and other constituencies.
