I want my kids to choose what's interesting and actual for them. They
will have their road in finding themselves. I chose what to do in life
myself. I'm very grateful to my mom that she didn't tell me, say
"You'll go to law school".
Yulia: I agree. Kid's can be and
should be directed, but it's impossible to suppress their
personalities. I raise Vika remembering this.
Who are your friends in show-business?
Yulia:
I don't think I have friends in show-business. Like most of artists, we
have these "hi-bye" talks, and that's it. We're close just with Sergei
Lazarev since "Neposedi" times.
Lena: My circle of people
is actually totally different. I keep friendship with my former
schoolmates. We are close to our fans. Many girls and boys come from
various Russian towns.
How do you spend your free-time?
Lena: Just like everybody – cinema, theatre, books, friends, relatives… I've started to learn Spanish.
Yulia: And I've stopped partying lately – don't feel like doing it. I also devote much time to my family.

Strange Holiday
Hello, guys. This is my New Year post.
New Year is a strange
holiday. From one point of view it is as artificial as plastic
Christmas tree, from another - it is the most natural and magical.
It
is artificial because it was invented in communist Soviet Union as a
major holiday in order to replace Christmas that had been practically
prohibited.
It is natural because New Year is not bound with any of
the events of a mankind; it is just a moment when Earth passes a
certain point of its orbit.
It is magical because it is cosmic... I
imagine the planet Earth flying with a whistle at a mad speed through
the ice-cold emptiness of the space.
And all of us, passengers of this bolide, are getting ourselves prepared to the moment "X", counting down and... Y-Y-Y-EEEE-S-S-S!!!
It happened! It starts to run the next lap...
At
this very moment the holiday actually ends, but the essence of pleasure
are in many days of getting ready to it, and we feel relieved from all
this anticipation and go party...
I want to say my BIG INSIDER'S THANK YOU to everyone who read and
commented this blog in the expiring year, who agreed with me and who
did not, who applauded my passages, who raged and advised me to change
my job to a politician or writer, or to have a ten-year vacation...
I don't want to pretend tough guy, and I say honestly that your opinions hit the target. I also was glad, angry and all that.
That's what I call the unlimited freedom of communication, that's what this blog is here for.
I think there is no one among our bloggers and commentators who could still have doubts about blog.tatu.ru aim and nature.
Surely,
it is not only and not so much a source of information as a forum for
debates, polemics and emotional exchange among the people of the tatuish circle in the widest sense.
For me t.A.T.u.
is not a music project, it is a whole culture, culture that unites
people whose value system has got more than mainstream stuff within.
These two girls touch the strings of souls far beyond the limits of
music perception as well as far beyond the generation of their age.
So now, at the time I'm writing this post, we have to fly about 2,5 millions of kilometers at the speed of about 100 thousands km/h through the space to the point "X" (those distances and speeds fucking amaze me).

Don’t forget to manage waste in the new year / Rossiyskaya Gazeta
The duo with a mysterious name t.A.T.u. appeared in Russia and
in Belorussia suddenly. The story about two girls crazy about each
other made them known all around the world. In the course of the years
t.A.T.u. vocalists Yulia Volkova and Lena Katina became
more professional. They show the most vital problems of our society in
their songs and videos. On the eve of New Year this famous band told
SOUZ' correspondent about love, about protest against violence and
about management… of waste.
Can music be trendy?
Lena: I guess it can.
Though there's no point to call music trendy or and not trendy. For
example, I can listen to "Beatles", "Scorpions" as well as some young
artist who sings, "I love you, you don't love me"… It's a question of
taste, everyone chooses the things he or she likes. I have no specific
preferences. Sometimes I just turn on the radio and listen to what they
play. If high-platform shoes are fashionable today, it doesn't mean
I'll wear them. I prefer wear the things I feel comfortable in.
You
will be releasing the album again with an ambiguous name - "Waste
Management", you again made a provocative video, you again touch edgy
topics…
Lena: I think we get the problems that touch
us and not just us from our souls, and we transform them into musical
form. Generally they are the things that we've always sung about –
about loving or not-loving… It's hard to live, it's hard to love…
Yulia:
Our video "Beliy Plaschik" is against violence, against unborn
children. We've decided to express a protest with such a metaphor. We
think it turned out strong…
What's the most difficult thing in a tour?
Lena: You know, I have this empty feeling after the show. Everything I had inside is given to the audience, to our fans. That's not easy.
Yulia: Yes, there is weariness after the concert, but it's nice, and I quickly recover strength. We didn't perform for months because of pregnancy, and honestly I miss it already.

Guys, thank you very much for all your congratulations! Some details.
The birth went fast and without any difficulties. Last night Yulia and
Lena had a New Year party in a close circle of friends and their team.
Yulia came home around midnight and was in bed by 2 AM, but at 4 AM she
woke up realizing that the birth process started. Parviz took her to
the hospital right away. So you see why the process went so fast –
Yulia peacefully slept half of the time 
Parviz was together with Yulia when she was giving birth, he didn’t leave her for a second and cut the cord off himself.
The boy looks a lot like Daddy – as it should be. Yulia and Parviz keep the baby’s name in a secret.

Yulia: What we’ve been waiting for is happening today. Today is Dec.
27, 2007 just before the New Year, so our baby will be from 2007. We
arrived to the hospital and I got drops all over me, blood pressure
detectors and detectors for the baby heart rhythm. Right now we are
resting and I’m passing away. I got everything numb and I'm about to
fall asleep.
The
main thing is that my beloved husband is beside me. My eyes are a bit
swelling. Right now we are waiting. We are lying here and waiting.
Parviz: My sweety, what do you want to tell to the whole world? Is it worth getting pregnant?
Yulia:
Yes, it’s worth it but it requires patience... well, don’t look at me
because I look sleepy now. I’m about to pass away from these drops.
Parviz: Does it feel good?

Yulia: The main thing it doesn’t hurt.
Parviz: Why are you lying?

This morning at 6:35 AM (Moscow time) Yulia Volkova’s son was born. Weight – 3400 g, height – 52 cm. The birth went without any difficulties. Both mother and baby feel good.

particular, each is very good itself, but these made another story

What are the lyrics about?
It is about the frightfulness of dying, about the yearning that overpowers a man in one's death hour...
Rhetoric questions:
- the subject matter is eternal, does it lack sense for you, who listen and love t.A.T.u.?
- what on Earth does have sense then?
- how is it possible to live without thinking of death?
Here you are, my another "pearl of wisdom": poetry differs, guys.
Some is composed traditionally, carrying the literal meaning.
Some can be very much deemed, can avoid providing the meaning itself, but deliver an atmosphere, a mood.
Words
in the poetry of latter sort are not conductors of straight meanings,
they conduct thin matters, they conduct the state of the soul.
Example:
I am drawing in a black paint
On the wall a stupid letter
Normally people do not think they do stupid things while in very progress.
People in their consciousness use to do serious things, funny things, good thing, bad things, but not stupid. (Yes, the understanding you've made bluntness can appear later, afterwards, but not at the moment of action.)
He, who is doing something while thinking it is stupid at the very moment and still keeps on doing it, has got a big, big problem.
He's in distress, he's rather desperate.
That's what these words are about. It doesn't mean anything - which letter/word he's drawing there exactly... (I recall a funny discussion on the forum).
That's the right way to understanding of all the White Robe's lyrics.
This is difficult. This can be understood just when your mind is open and free of any fuss.
This is not positively possible for each and everyone...
You should think with your heads, not with your asses, you are the fans of t.A.T.u. after all, not of some "Shpilky"... ["Stiletto heels" - Rus. pop group]
What are t.A.T.u. for and whom are t.A.T.u. for?

Something about wastes
Not longer ago than the night before yesterday I decided to clamber around my house to study its infrastructure.Walking along the basement floor that goes all the way under the house I faced an exclusively picturesque scene.
The chute, which was going vertically, makes a tilt of about 20 degrees in order to damp the falling wastes, and has a big service hole.
Trash, flying nearby this hole, erupts small fractions outside. In 40 years of house's being, the thick layer of fine particles of human life waste-products has condensed around that technologic hole. The impression of the seen picture had been amplified by an outstandingly unpleasant smell of all this, being rotten for long years in a bulk on the floor...
I had a cultural shock at that moment... I had nearly identified myself with that decaying bulk on the floor. For some minute I felt ashamed I use the chute.
I came closer and dug a bit the contents of the upper part of those wastes with a stick... and then I was frightened even more... worms and little cockroaches were stirring there pell-mell between pieces of cigarettes of different brands, used pads and tampons...

had my laughter time watching 12AV
Viewers were split in two halves seemingly forcedly:
- costumed punks/rockers/metalists/informals..., in past-era words
products of "pernicious influence of the rotten West";
- a showpiece-factory
of "sov-komsomol" with a MIL-style dressed gal as a leader - bloody star
defender.
Punks and rockers, alleged aliens of ours, used to criticize the clips
with skill, ingeniously and reasonably. Their judgments sounded logical, their
language was flexible.
They voted for BP.
"Komsomolers" praised the City-312 home video calling it
sincere, or something.
They spoke in commonplace and tentative way.
The gal - star defender with aggressive antitatuish manners - was doing her best
to outdominate everybody, whereas her function was to defend all artists. The
sole thing to remember from all her speeches is the numerously said word
"dude".
No criticisms about BP had come from "Komsomolers" who finally voted
against BP altogether as a single man, as if they had their order.
One strange show it was...

youtube.com is now #1, #2 and #8 simultaneously at
top-10
most viewed videos in Russia in the last month.
Besides, Beliy Plaschik has received the biggest number of votes
and was leading the "Favorite video" rating in Music category. It
stays the most discussed and most linked clip in Music category in
Russia as well.
Tomorrow is the end of MTV exclusive
rotation of this video, which means that other TV channels may get Beliy
Plaschik into their play lists.
Soon we’ll make a place at Beliy Plaschik
page with a list of radio, TV and other media, where you could

The last thing. We plan to release maxi-single Beliy Plaschik at

You don't joke like that!
I kept silence for a really long time, and now I wish to tell you so
much that I'm afraid to get blown into pieces with my wish like a hamster with a
drop of nicotine.
I'll do my best to arrange my thoughts so these won't seem
as a spontaneous stream of consciousness.
At first - about connection between music, lyrics and video:
The demand of existence of connection between the formal meanings of
the music, lyrics and picture is not applicable here ‘cause the clip is not
something of a kind of "BBC - Live Nature" series.
So expressions like
"...it's a pity there's no stupid word on a fence, or at least any
word..." or "is 20:20 the time of execution?" are mere signs of
yet immature and "stalled" perceptual system, which is quite normal for
adolescent minds.
Surely, there can be conceptual bonds, even in
White Robe, such as the white robe itself, but their presence
is absolutely unnecessary, they can be totally absent. The one necessary thing
is: music, lyrics and picture have to evoke emotions of the very same sort, and
they do have to amplify these emotions collectively. Those of you who still
didn't get it are ought to try to open your mind, as Obi Van in "Star Wars" did
say. You'll succeed with 100% probability.
About meanings:
Artistic characters use to gain independence from their authors and live their own life, at their own will. That means any interpretations will do, any are correct. Different people see just different manifestations, so the author turns out to be just one of the witnesses after finishing his work of creation of those heroes. Therefore his own interpretations are not better and not worse than all other people's.
So, what this story is about, from my point of view.
In
general - about the very same things all Tatu's videos tell in different ways -
about love or its absence, about death as the eternal antithesis to love. Some
people kill others in cold-blooded and well-organized manner. Furthermore, one
of those killed - unborn human. Nothing can be worse. This is an utmost and
weird absurd. Love has died amongst people who shoot pregnant women, and the
evil has ultimately won. You can say this could never be, nobody shoot pregnant
women.
Yes, probably it does not happen, but art is not limited to things
that happen, it also could speak of what may happen when things are pushed to
the limit...
Why should this be shown?
For the reason that people
would have once again thought of the horror of death and evil, and of the value
of life and love.
About the plot:
To my mind the plot is clear and simple. This video doesn't contain anything random or meaningless. On the contrary - it has got hints that help you to stay on path:"somewhere... in the 21st century...", "Department of Control", untressed hair, blurred make-up and torn stockings of "alive" Lena in the first half; military uniform of "polished" Lena with her blank stare in the second part, Yulia's white robe (noticed by everyone), firing squad's uniform resembling fascist's, guards resembling contemporary SWAT units, Lena's old-fashioned personal Mercedes...
Some hints are more obvious while some are less and meant to be captured not at the very first glance. This all is like an "eye-spy" game. A clip is not a movie which is normally seen once or twice. A clip uses to be shown dozens and hundreds of times so there are "secrets" to be hidden for the audience to be pleased to find even after numerous playbacks. You just need to watch it thoughtfully, without prejudicially considering authors idiots who've made a dull video stuffed with meaningless details.
When?
"... in the 21st century". Our days. Might be
2001 or may be 2021.
What is this age-pointing here for?
It is to make clear - things happening on the screen have nothing to do
with some abstractive fantasy of parallel worlds like "Lord of The Rings" and
not thousand-year-remote future like "Star Wars". These things are what could
happen in our time. Identifiable signs of different countries and peoples are
interlaced in the clip in order to display the indefiniteness of the date of
events, the datelessness (some things had been taken from the 20th century, but
who of us hasn't got things from the 20th century...)
Where?
"Somewhere..." On the planet Earth, in the
non-existing country, in the detention center of non-existing Department of
Control.
What does this Department control?
It
controls EVERITHING there.
Control as a synonym for violence.
It's a
metaphor for the absolute evil that won.
What actually goes on there in
the video, what's the plot?
Yulia's and Lena's characters lived
on their own in that unreal world even before the beginning of the clip, without
an idea of each other's life. Depicted events cover the last several hours
before the punishment, when both girls head their own ways to the first and the
last meeting of theirs. They even physically move to this meeting: one cuffed
and guarded, the other leading a firing squad.
For Yulia's character, who is sentenced to death, the meeting ends up
with physical double-death.
For Lena's character, the Department
of Control member and a firing squad officer, it ends with death of spiritual
kind.
No compromises, all dots are settled. I do positively
disagree with those writing about the plot being unfinished or underexposed. I
believe those people just haven't caught it and jumped to premature conclusions.
The more complete story is really hard to imagine.
I would strongly advice
'em to think once again...

Argos's comment
An English writing blogger Argos left this ironical and paradoxical comment to my post. I decided to translate it into Russian and leave here without my own comments.
A really surprising video, completely taken from real life with so much worldly wisdom.
Beginning at about 13 seconds, when Lena stumbles over her high-heels, the long shadow of her left arm makes you think that there is a handrail, where she holds on to, while putting off her shoes. What a marvelous metaphor - it's an illusion that you support yourself on the work of you own hands, in reality the emotional wall of rigidity and coldness keeps you from falling. I have to remember that for my own life. Intriguing that nobody of the people passing by took notice of Lena's quite scanty attire, but I guess, she is used to being ignored.
The next great wisdom I found is connected with the mirrors. While Yulya stares constantly on it, Lena almost completely ignores it, although this big mirror begs to be looked into. Just one short glance - everything proper? Well! The realization of the obvious: Don't look too much into the mirror, you may see that you are dirty. Fortunately, Yulya's home has enough facilities to fix that major problem. But there is another meaning too. If you look into the mirror too much, you will recognize yourself, and that's not good for your future. See, Lena is on the click-end of the guns, Yulya on the boom-end.
Another important experience is in the scene, where Lena drives to the place of execution. Better the prayer under the wheel than the bible in the face. I fully support this view!
What made me wonder for some time, was, why does a Ministry of Control carry out executions? If you kill people you can't control them. But as everything in life - if you give it a second thought, the meaning becomes obvious. Birth-control. They are giving her the morning-after pill (actually the seven months after pill). If you don't think of contraception in time, you have to bite the bullet.
Finally I have to say, I don't really like the clip. Where are the funny clowns, the cute little squirrels and monkeys? Fucked world!

People, I do encourage you to stop any serious discussions about

What leaked into Internet is not just unmixed, but also in mp3-quality. You are not able to judge the music in such quality. Wait for the final track.
P.S. Special thanks to klowns for his thought about how good we are at ruining arrangements. You've just forgotten that we also can create them so that they blow your mind. Or you thought that the tracks are done at Mars, then are sent to us, and here we fucking corrupt them?...
P.P.S. Many forum people write that the plot of the video is unclear, the reason for executing Yulia is not explained and the message in general is obscure etc. I feel I should share my thoughts about it and reveal some more inside info. Give me few days, and I'll come back...
