Portland Fashion Week to Showcase Eco-Friendly Fashion
Portland Fashion Week (PFW) Productions will host an eco-fashion discussion panel and apparel fashion show as part of the Better Living Show, the largest sustainable lifestyle show in the Northwest.
Portland, Ore., March 11, 2008
The Energy Trust Better Living Home, Garden & Lifestyle Show will take place at the Portland Expo Center on Saturday, March 29 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Members from the eco-fashion community will gather to discuss environmentally responsible design and manufacturing processes.
The public is encouraged to attend this free event and learn how Portland has become the international leader in green fashion.
The show will begin at 5 p.m. at the Sustainable Life Stage with a panel discussion, featuring two eco-fashion experts: Leslie Hoffman and Rebecca Luke.
Hoffman and Luke will share their experiences in persuading the global fashion community to adopt sustainable manufacturing processes.
Leslie Hoffman is the executive director of Earth Pledge and creator of the Future Fashion runway show during New York Fashion Week 2008.
Rebecca Luke is a founder of the Sustainable Style Foundation, an international nonprofit organization promoting environmentally responsible living.
Sustainable designs will be showcased on the Sustainable Life runway during a live fashion show following the panel discussion.
Portland designer Anna Cohen, Seattle designer Lizzie Parker, and Nau, a Portland-based outdoor sports apparel company, will display their innovative designs during the show.

Quotes Attributable to Prasenjit Tito Chowdhry, executive producer of PFW
“Portland Fashion Week has been internationally recognized as the first eco-sustainable production of a fashion week in the world, which has launched collections of nationally and internationally known green and independent designers.”
“We are bringing this spring event to the Better Living Show to educate the broader community on what it really takes to reduce the fashion industry’s environmental impact – meaning its carbon footprint, toxic waste, water usage and other factors.”
“The installation format fashion show will allow attendees to gain a better understanding of eco-fashion as opposed to a traditional runway show, in which designs are only viewed for a matter of seconds. And the most exciting thing about our participation in the Better Living Show is that everyone can experience this high-fashion event at no cost.”
