Gary A. Cziko is professor of educational psychology English as an international language at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has done research on first and second language acquisition and reading; bilingual education in Canada, the United State, Nigeria and Sudan; language proficiency testing, and technology-assisted language learning. His two books published by MIT Press in 1995 and 2000 consider all forms of learning and development as selection procesess (universal selection theory) involving the control of perception (perceptual control theory). He is the founder and major contributor to the ATALL Wikibook (http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/ATALL) and is the founder, station manager, program directory, chief engineer and announcer for the Latino Radio Serivce, a 7/24 low-power radio station broadcasting on 1660 AM on the Urbana campus of the University of Illinois.
