Course Syllabus

Course Description:

A& P is a course that in-depth looks at the human body. The course is designed for students to learn all about the form and function of the human body.

Instructional Philosophy:

In order for students to become scientifically literate they must have a working knowledge of the human body. Academic success is achieved by joining working knowledge and application.

Major Course Objectives:

1sl Quarter: Intro to A&P

2nd Quarter: Bones, Muscles and Skin

3rd Quarter: Nervous and Circulatory Systems

4th Quarter: Respiratory and Digestive

Major Course Goals:

The major course goals are: 1. Acquire the knowledge and skills to gather, analyze and apply information and ideas. 2. To acquire the knowledge and skills to communicate effectively within and beyond the classroom. 3. To acquire the knowledge and skills to recognize and solve problems. 4. To acquire the knowledge and skills to make decisions and act as a responsible member of society.

Major Course Projects and Instructional Activities:

  1. Daily participation in class.

  2. Designing an individual experiment.

  3. Lab activities.
    Course Assessment Plan:


  1. Daily participation points.

  2. Scores on written tests and homework assignments.

  3. Scores on lab activities.
    Course Expectations:


  1. Students are expected to come to class prepared to participate.

  2. All students are expected to contribute in lab activities.

  3. All assignments should be turned in on a timely basis.

Supplies and Materials Needed:

  1. One three ring binder (2-3inch).

  2. Loose-leaf paper

  3. Pen, pencil, colored pencils and highlighter.

Homework Policy and Grading Scale:

Daily participation points 20% of grade

Tests 30% of grade

Homework 30% of grade

Bell ringers 10% of grade

Root word Quizzes 10% of grade
