Award Nominations
Nominations are now being accepted for Utah Campus Compact Statewide Recognition Event and the UVU Volunteer & Service-Learning Center Recognition & Appreciation Luncheon. The purpose of these events is to recognize the work of outstanding faculty, staff, students, on a statewide and institutional level who are excelling in civic engagement, service-learning, and volunteerism. Recipients of the awards will be honored at both events which are held in April.
Nominations are now being accepted for the following categories:
1. Civically Engaged Scholar
2. Civically Engaged Staff Member
3. Civically Engaged Student
4. Committed Community Partner
Selection Criteria
Civically Engaged Scholar
This award recognizes an individual with:
* Experience in using service-learning as a pedagogy
* Innovation in ways of employing reflective strategies to connect students' service with academics
* Evidence of engaged scholarship through integration, application, teaching, and/or community-based research
* Evident of institution impact through promotion of service-learning on campus, in one's discipline, and/or efforts aimed at redesigning curriculum or faculty development
Civically Engaged Staff Member
This award recognizes a staff member with:
* Leadership in advancing community engagement as a critical component within their higher education institution
* Evidence of supporting faculty, administrators, and students
* Formation of innovative campus and community partnerships
* Engaging, modeling, or influencing students to be involved in community service and/or service-learning
Civically Engaged Student
This award recognizes a student who:
* Demonstrates an innovative approach to building or enhancing campus-based efforts to address community needs/issues
* Employs use of diverse engagement strategies (service, service-learning, advocacy, policy work, etc.)
* Demonstrates ability to lead, inspire, and engage other students, members of institution, or community
* Demonstrates efforts to sustain their programs/work through developing strategies for institutional and community commitment
Committed Community Partner
This award recognizes an individual or organization who:
* Has enhanced the Community Partners involvement portion of UVU’s civic engagement/service-learning program
* Has provided meaningful service and learning opportunities for students
* Has had their mission/programs/goals of the agency fulfilled or enhanced by partnering with UVU
