CMBC AGM
October 2, 2008
Intro
Devon gave a brief overview of what CMBC does for the community, what members receive from joining club, insurance cost break down.
2. Additions to agenda
Description of needed Board positions
Need to promote more recreational aspects of club
3. Update on last year by Devon and Jonah
Lost Board members for 2008 season – too much work for only Jonah and Devon to do
2008 season had one major event a month as opposed to 2007 where we hosted biweekly smaller events. CMBC is still trying to find the right blend.
DH race was very successful.
DH race, high school mt bike races successful – why low registration for KOC? We need to figure out why?
Trail advocacy is needed as more trail issues are arising. Ie. The destruction of Boogaloo stunts
All CMBC supported organized events for 2008 were successful (24 hours of light, Dri-Tri, Long Lake Triathlon, Thursday social rides). King of the Canyon is not a CMBC event but Yukon Cycling Association championship race. Fury of the Yukon did not go ahead this year. Volunteers are needed for this event to work.

5. Discuss need for volunteer positions for Members at Large
We need to arrange to have committed volunteer ride leaders and their rides posted a month ahead of time on website (for Thursday night social rides)
Marketing of club events and promotion of club registration
Volunteers for running various events – will post on the website as needed
Volunteers needed for dirt jump park construction
Need Director and volunteers to start running kid/youth section of CMBC. The high school races show there is an interest in mountain biking and we should provide an outlet for this.
6. Other items
Update on dirt jump park: The site at Mount Mac has been confirmed. The park will be a City of Whitehorse venue, similar to Skate Park. The park has already been designed by Jay Hoots. Hopefully we will break ground next spring.
Club is looking into organizing club member travel Outside to attend mountain bike competitions.
Increase the amount of structured events/races from the 2008 season. Ice bike races, single speed races, fun rides, mountain bike festival
We need to utilize calendar on our website
CMBC website to be revamped to make more user friendly. It will be updated regularly for the 2009 season.
7. Adjournment 8:30pm.
8. Next Board meeting Sunday, October 5, 2008.
