Day 1 - [17/08/08] - Delhi To Shimla
Delhi -(97 NH1)- Panipat -(35 NH1)- Karnal -(71 NH1)- Ambala -(61 NH1)- Panchkula -(36 NH22)- Kasauli -(29)- Solan -(49)- Shimla
Total Kms : [378] out of which aprox 300 is plains and last 80 are the moutains. time for the trip will be approx 10hrs.
We start at 5 am in the morn. Drink tea at muruthal small stop of abt 15 mins. Eat breakfast at zilmil after karnal . Stop of abt 45 mins. covered almost 200km by then.
Next stop will be kasauli , take some snap and stuff look arnd. eat lunch at kasauli.
Expected time to reach shimla even 5pm. Lets find out a place where we can stay just for a night, maybe a gurudwara, just for the night. Roam on the mall road, eat dinner, snaps. try to go and sleep at arnd 11. wake up early at arnd 6, move out immidiately.
Day 2 - [18/08/08] - Shimla To Manali
Shimla -(45)- Darlaghat -(74) sundarnagar - (65) Aut -(29) - kullu - (41) Manali

Total Kms : [254] all mountains so approx time will be 8-9 hours.
get out at 6am. reach darlaghat at 7:30am. chai pani. arnd 10am we should be at sundarnagar . have breakfast at sundarnagar, will have covered 119 kms. start at 11am.
next stop should be kullu,distance covered in the streach will be 94 km. estimated time 2pm . covered should be arnd 200 km where we eat our lunch. start at 3pm.
Reach manali at arnd 5pm.
We dont stay at manali town. We go ahead 5 kms from manali and stay at Vashisht Village.
Day 3 [19/08/08] Stay at manali, roam arnd, and get the bikes tuned up/top up things.

day 4 [20/08/08] - Manali to sarchu
Manali -(51)- Rothang La -(13)- Gramphoo -(43)- Tandi -(8)- Keylong -( Jispa -[37])- Darcha -(15)- Patseo -(Zing zingbar -[30])- Baralacha La -(32)- Sarchu.
Dev says -> stay at keylong/jispa. and then do jispa pang and stay there instead of sarchu and then stay at dhaba, saves money as sarchu is expensive.
Total Kms: [229].all mountains so approx time will be 8-9 hours.
Start at arnd 6am from manali. mini breakfat at rohtang. km civered 51.estimated time here will be arnd 7:30 am. move at 8am. next stop tandi, where we tank up and get the bottles also taked up. km covered 107km. expectd time here will be atnd 10am. fuel flling will take abt 15 min. reach keylong(estimated time 10:45), have breakfastthere , break of abt 45 mins, start at 11:30am. so next stop will be zingzing bar abt 50 kms later, where we stop for lunch. estimated time to reach there will be 2 hrs. (1:30pm) break of abt 1 hour.230pm we start nex tstop will be sarchu at 5pm. Stay at sarchu
day 5 [21/08/08] - sarchu to lehin
Sarchu -(42)- Naki La -(13)- Lachulung La -(19)- Pang Camp -(43)- Debring -(19)- Tanglang La -(29)- Rumtse -(15)- Rong -(16)- Upshi -(13)- Karu -(16)- Thikse Monastry -(19)- Leh.
Total Kms [240-275]
Start at 6am.
first stop at 8am at Naki La. Chai pani. 15 min break start at 8:30am. Distance covered in the streach 42 km
second stop 10:30am at Pang camp. 30 min breakfast break. start at 11am. Distance covered in the streach 32 km. total km covered 74km.
Third stop at 1:30pm Debring. Lunch break of 1 hour. Start at 2:30pm.Distance covered in the streach 43 km. total kms 117km
Assuming everything after Debring is all plains .. except for some part in tanglang la. we should be able to make it to ladakh by 5-6pm. distance covered will be approx 133km
Last Stop at Leh FINALYYYYYY ! :)

day 6[22/08/08] LEH day, permit and roam arnd stuff, only one mechanic there so get the things done.
day 7[23/08/08]
Leh – Phyang – Khardung La (40 kms) some approx 2 hours to reach, so if we start at 7am in the morn we should be at khardungl by 9am. breakfast there .

dev says -> stay at hunder .. nice palce to stay, one place to stay in hunder a govt guest house. otherwise do the whole thing very fast. dont stay at khardungla for more than 15 mins

day 8 [24/08/08]
Route: Leh – Shey – Karu – Shakti – Chang La – Durbuk – Tanksey – Lukung – Spangmik (Pangong Tso)
Distance: 170kms
Leh – Karu (45 kms)-Start off from Leh early in the morning after breakfast and start driving/riding on the Leh – Manali highway till you reach the town of Karu. Road is in good condition and journey is fast paced, due to this you will be in Karu in less than an hour.
Karu – Chang La (35 kms)
From Karu you need to take the left turn that would take you to the village Shakti, roads are mostly straight till you cross Shakti and a few kilometer thereafter the real ascent for Chang La starts. For most part ascent is steep and initially roads are in good condition. As you approach the final few kms of the ascent to Chang La, road conditions start to deteriorate and steepness increase, making the affair of reaching the summit of Chang La more challenging and memorable.
Of all the passes one encounters in Ladakh (barring Marsimik La), Chang La is the steepest and due to bad roads at the final ascent it is also the toughest, no wonder it is called "The Mighty Chang La".
Chang La – Tanksey (58 kms): After a few minutes rest, its time to begin the descent from Chang La, road is in bad condition for few kilometers, beyond which superbly laid tarmac coupled with beautiful scenery awaits you.
Your next big break will be at Tanksey a.k.a. Tangste; Tanksey is a big town with few shops, hotels and an internet café. It is a good idea to have your lunch here or in case you have arrived late in the evening, then spend the night here instead of continuing to Lukung or Spangmik where finding accommodation in peak season can be an issue.
Tanksey – Spangmik (Pangong Tso) (32 kms): Journey beyond Tanksey for most part is through fantastically laid tarmac and views, however don’t indulge in over speeding, since there are quite a few water passages built in the middle of the road, which essentially mean 8-10 feet long depression in the middle of the road without any warnings!
As you approach the lake, the sheer size of it starts becoming more apparent as you finally reach its shores. On the banks of the lake is a military camp and also Lukung which is a collection of tents and newly built Eco Huts
back to tanksey for night stay.
day 9 [25/08/08]
