Glossary of terms used in the Participant's Report (Part One)
Chakras:
-
Base (1st) chakra - red - located at the top of the legs - seat of survival, safety. security and groundedness; also feeds life force to the lower section of the torso - bowels, rectum, and anus.
-
Sacral (2nd) chakra - orange - located a few centimeters below the navel - seat of creativity and sexuality; also feeds life force to the reproductive system.
-
Solar plexus (3rd) chakra - yellow - seat of self-identity, personal power and the intellect; also feeds life force to the stomach and digestive system.
-
Heart (4th) chakra - green/rose pink - seat of giving and receiving love; also feeds life force to the heart and lungs.
-
Throat (5th) chakra - blue - seat of self-expression, communication and "speaking one's truth" - also feeds life force to the throat, ears and nasal passages.
-
Brow or Third Eye (6th) chakra - indigo blue - located between the eyebrows - seat of intuition and perception; also feeds life force to the eyes and brain.
-
Crown (7th) chakra - violet - located at the crown of the head - seat of connection to Spirit; also feeds life force to the brain.
-
8th chakra - magenta - located about a hand above the crown of the head - seat of the life task. The eighth and ninth chakras begin the process of stepping down higher energies so that the physical body can han-dle them.
-
9th chakra - turquoise - the seat of joy, and closely connected to the energies of the Christ Consciousness. This chakra is also known as the Soul Star and connects us to our guides, past lives and soul group, and to our roles as stewards and watchers of the Earth.
-
10th chakra - white and gold - the seat of healing ourselves at the deepest levels, and being connected to All That Is. The 10th Chakra serves as the hub for the Soul or the Higher Self. This is the you that exists between lifetimes, the you that agreed to the lessons you're learning in this life. This Chakra can be visualized as a whirlpool above the head. It is believed that all healing must be "locked into" the 10th Chakra for it to be fully effective.
Endocrine system (see pic on left) - the system of finely tuned glands in our bodies which altogether produce over 50 hormones.
Geopathic stress - Geopathic Stress refers to the distortion of the Earth’s vibrations by weak electromagnetic fields created by subterranean running water, certain mineral concentrations, fault lines and underground cavities. The distorted vibration becomes abnormally high and harmful to living organisms.

What is Geopathic Stress?
Geopathic stress: (Illness from the Earth): Geo = Earth; Pathos = Suffering
Definition:
Geopathic Stress is the name given to natural or man-made energies emanating from the earth, which are detrimental to human health.
The effects of GS are so insidious - GS cannot be seen nor adequately explained in scientific terms, but the effects of it can be seen in the increasing number of working days lost through illness and the rising statistics for serious illnesses such as cancer, heart disease etc.
Geopathic energies do not recognize boundaries, as they can pass through walls, windows and closed doors. The effects of GS undermine and weaken a person’s life force, thus causing ill health or even just ‘feeling under par’. Examples of things that cause GS are not only ley lines (man-made energy lines) and disturbances caused by underground water (either flowing or stagnant), but also natural, geological structures such as ore deposits and man-made structures such as mining or large buildings, foundations, sewage and water pipes, underground transport systems. We also count electro-magnetic pollution in the form of overhead or underground cables, phone masts and electricity generating stations, or sub-stations.
If the exposure to geopathic energies is short-lived, then in general the effects are transitory, although some people will show symptoms of tiredness, inattention and headaches when sitting in a geopathically stressed area for even one or two hours.
But imagine the cumulative effect of years spent sleeping in the same bedroom, or sitting in the same chair in the office, and you will realise that a person’s exposure to a particular form of detrimental energy could be devastating for their health and well-being.
Brief technical explanation
Geopathic theory states that the inner Earth normally vibrates at 8Hz as it rotates. However, locations of geopathic stress have vibrations at much higher frequencies. If the inner Earth's vibration of 8 Hz crosses a water vein 60-150 meters underground, stress lines vibrating at up to 250 Hz can be created. Similar to EMFs, such frequency anomalies are said to cause disturbances in the immune system, behavior and cell structure.
Causes of Geopathic stress
The earth’s core is molten metal and as it spins electric currents are created within these metals that produces a magnetic field. Man has evolved within the earth’s magnetic field, and can cope with the slight fluctuations from time to time caused by weather and the sun’s activity. But when the earth’s magnetic field is disturbed so that the background field we experience is different to normal, the human body can experience unusual stresses that lead to ill health or a slowing down of the normal healing processes. ‘Energy drains’ are natural structures that regulate the earth’s energy flow by funneling away negative energies; if these become blocked, this can impair the earth’s natural ability to balance and harmonise its energy.
Why is GS important in energy work for healing?
In general, once Health Kinesiology energy corrections have been done, they do not come undone again. An exception to this is when the client is living or working in an area of high Geopathic Stress, or if they have a major life trauma such as bereavement, car crash, divorce etc. In these cases, the person’s energy system may be so traumatized that:
- The corrections will come undone and they will experience a reappearance of their original symptoms
- The healing process is delayed or stopped altogether because the body is using its resources to counteract the GS instead of doing its healing.
In addition, we have to consider the probability that it is the Geopathic Stress that has caused their symptoms in the first place.
The symptoms and effects of having GS
The effect is gradual, involving a slow deterioration in health in those who are most susceptible to GS. As a result, they often find it difficult to feel happy, energetic, emotionally stable and physically well.
The most frequently experienced symptoms are:
- Disturbed sleep, waking often, strange dreams, wake feeling tired
- Babies and children fret and don’t sleep well
- Restlessness
- General tiredness
- ‘Sick building syndrome’
- Inability to get well and stay well
- Immune system problems
- Repeated miscarriages or infertility problems
- Birth defects
- Any other symptom, but especially ME, headaches, hyperactivity, some cancers
- A general feeling of something being not ‘quite right’ with a particular area or room
- Cracks or damp in a building that keeps re-occurring
People vary in their susceptibility to GS, and which part of the body and for how long it is in contact with the energy. Different geopathic energies vibrate at different frequencies, so if a particular energy vibrates at the same frequency as a particular body organ, it will damage that organ. Some energies affect only women, as they vibrate with their ovaries. GS often goes to the person’s weakest point, producing illness there, eg. throat, stomach. Therefore, in this case the GS brings out an underlying weakness in the body. If a negative energy line crosses them where they sleep, it may be that particular part of the body that is affected, e.g. painful or arthritic knees. If you are ill, first try moving your bed to a different spot, and if that improves matters, the chances are you have GS in your bedroom. Because of the above, GS may affect different people in the same building differently, so an HK practitioner would first of all examine the situation as it relates to each individual in the building. Each member of the family may have a different susceptibility to GS, and so there may be one family member, for example, who is only well when they all go on holiday somewhere else!
Ants, bees and cats thrive in areas of high GS. So if your cat only sleeps on your lap when you are in one particular chair, he may in fact be soaking up the negative energies in that spot, rather than being affectionate! Dogs hate geopathic energies, so if you want a good night’s sleep, choose the dog’s favorite area of the house!
Neurotransmitters - There are more than 300 known neurotransmitters which transmit information within the brain and from the brain to all the parts of the body. Acetylcholine, for example, sends messages to the skeletal muscles, sweat glands, and heart; serotonin release underlies the process of learning and consciousness. Knowledge of the specific functions of neurotransmitters is still in its infancy, but it seems that each one probably plays some role in most behaviors. Most neurotransmitters are made from amino acids obtained from the protein in food you consume. Neurotransmitters are the brain chemicals that motivate or sedate, focus or frustrate. Their complex interaction is what shifts our moods and changes our minds. Ensuring adequate neurotransmitter levels is crucial for optimal brain heath and fitness, however, poor nutrition is not the only obstacle. Stress, infection, and drugs tend to diminish neurotransmitter levels, as does impaired digestion and circulation. A neurotransmitter imbalance is usually involved in brain disorders, including Parkinson's disease, attention-deficits, and obsessive-compulsive behavior.
Old programming - refers to an unconscious belief system of some kind or a way of seeing ourselves and the world that has been taken on from other people or an event, or from the manner in which an event is portrayed via our culture or the media, and which can be hold us back quite substantially, leading to learned or habitualised/ ‘programmed’ behaviour and attitudes, which may not serve our highest good.
Ovaries (see also under Endocrine system) - The ovaries are two small, oval-shaped organs (see pic on the right) which are part of the female reproductive system. They are in the lower part of the abdomen, which is known as the pelvis. Each month, in women of childbearing age, one of the ovaries produces an egg. The egg passes down the fallopian tube to the womb (uterus). If the egg is not fertilised by a sperm it passes out of the womb and is shed, along with the lining of the womb, as part of the monthly period. The ovaries also produce the female sex hormones, oestrogen and progesterone. As a woman nears the ‘change of life’ (menopause) the ovaries make less of these hormones and periods gradually stop.
Pancreas - The pancreas lies beneath the stomach and is connected to the small intestine at the duodenum. It is a glandular organ that secretes digestive enzymes and the hormones insulin and glycogen, which regulate blood sugar levels (see also under Endocrine system). Insulin lowers the blood sugar level and increases the amount of glycogen (stored carbohydrate) in the liver. Glucagon slowly increases the blood sugar level if it falls too low. Diabetes occurs when the insulin-secreting cells do not work properly.
The pancreas also produces the body's most important enzymes, which digest foods and break down starches. It also helps neutralize chyme and helps break down proteins, fats and starch. Chyme is a thick semifluid mass of partly digested food that is passed from the stomach to the duodenum. The body is not able to absorb nutrients if the pancreas is not working properly to neutralize chyme and break down proteins, fats and starch.
Perception - the way one perceives the world and oneself, via the 5 senses, as well as the "6th sense".
Perineum - seat of the Base Chakra - in the female between the vulva and the anus, in males, between the scrotum and the anus.
Pons - (see image on left) - brain – part of the brainstem, located above the medulla oblongata; functions: arousal, assists in controlling autonomic functions such as the regulation of breathing and play a major role in sleep, also relays sensory information between the cerebrum and cerebellum.
Sciatic nerves (see image below, where the sciatic nerve is shown in yellow). The sciatic nerve is the longest nerve in the body.
It runs from the back of the pelvis, through the buttocks, and all the way down both legs, ending at the feet.
Anything that compresses or irritates this nerve can cause a pain that radiates out of your lower back and travels down the leg to your calf. The pain can range from mild to extremely painful. Sciatica can have a number of causes such as a herniated disc (often referred to as a slipped disc). This occurs when one of the discs that support the vertebra (the individual bones that make up your spine) gets temporarily pushed out of position and presses on the sciatic nerve.
Subtle bodies (see pic below on left):
-
Etheric - the subtle body closest to the physical, which contains the blueprint for what is currently manifesting at a physical level.
-
Emotional - the subtle body where we store most of the unresolved feelings from the past which we were not able to fully experience at the time, and which were suppressed.
-
Mental - where we store our beliefs and notions about ourselves and the world, many of which are taught to us by our culture and community, and some of which may no longer serve a purpose for us as beings.
-
Spiritual - where we store energies related to our spiritual lives and development, and our connection with Source.
-
Etheric Template (also known as causal body #1), one
of the outer layers of the auric field, holding the "ideal blueprint" for the physical body and auric field.
-
Celestial Body (also known as the causal body #2), said to be the subtle body through which we are able to experience spiritual bliss.
Ketheric template (also known as the causal body #3) - the outermost and most subtle layer of the auric field, holding "imprintings" from past lives and unresolved childhood memories, as well as carrying "imprintings from the current life into the next life.
Sympathetic nervous system - a branch of the autonomic nervous system, along with the enteric nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system. It becomes more active during times of stress. Its actions during the stress response comprise the fight-or-flight response. Migraine is regarded as a chronic sympathetic nervous system disorder. See below and this link for more detailed info.
General properties of the Sympathetic Nervous System:
- Mediates the body's response to activity, stress, danger, or environmental challenge. The overall pattern of sympathetic activation is typified by the fright, fight or flight reaction to danger. Its responses include:
- Increased Heart Rate and Contractility.
- Dilation of bronchioles for easier breathing.
- Constriction of arterioles in skin, digestive system, and non-exercising muscles.
- Inhibition of digestive functions.
- Widening of pupils.
- Increased glucose in blood due to glycogenolysis in liver.
- Increased fatty acid in blood from adipose tissues.
- Piloerection.
- Cold sweat (stimulated sweating with constricted skin arterioles).
- Involved in expending energy.
- Originates in the thoracic and lumbar spinal cord.
- Intermediate synapses near spinal cord, far from target organ. Most of the synapses are in the paravertebral ganglia near the spinal cord. Preganglionic fibers are short, postganglionic are long.
- Sympathetic neurons branch extensively. One cell may innervate many target cells, leading to more generalized sympathetic responses in the body.
- The Sympathetic system can also act selectively in some reflexes.
- Primary target tissues are:
- Cardiovascular system.
- Lungs.
- Smooth muscle in all organs.
- Some glands (sweat, salivary, and digestive).
- Metabolic tissue (fat cells, liver).
- Sympathetic stimulation can cause excitation of some tissues, inhibition of others. For example, contraction of arteriolar smooth muscle and relaxation of bronchiolar smooth muscle are both due to sympathetic stimulation.
Temporal lobe of the brain (see pic on right) - there are two temporal lobes, one on each side of the brain, located at about the level of the ears. These lobes allow a person to tell one smell from another and one sound from another. They also help in sorting new information and are believed to be responsible for short-term memory:
Right Lobe - Mainly involved in visual memory (i.e. memory for pictures and faces).
Left Lobe - Mainly involved in verbal memory (i.e. memory for words and names).
Functions of the temporal lobe: Auditory; Ventral visual stream; Processing of auditory input; Visual object recognition and categorization; Long term storage of sensory input.
