Constitution of the Amateur Radio Club

Article I - Name

Section 1 -
The name of the organization shall be the Amateur Radio Club.

Section 2 -
The organization formally known as the University of Idaho Amateur Radio Club and W7UQ and their properties shall be retained by the Amateur Radio Club.

Section 3 -
The abbreviation of the organization shall be A.R.C. or ARC or W7UQ.  No other club here on campus may use it.

Section 4 -
W7UQ shall also be used out of respect to the person who began the oldest known club on campus.

Article II - Purpose

Section 1 -
An association of persons commonly interested in Amateur Radio, by furthering better cooperation among its members, develop individual efficiency, and furthering of radio in the general community.

Article III - Membership

Section 1 -
The majority of this organization shall consist of undergraduate and graduate students of the University of Idaho.  All members that are registered at the University of Idaho have full voting rights.

Section 2 -
Associate members are people who are not registered students with the University of Idaho but who wish to be part of our club.  It shall be the club's decision to allow associate members to vote in the club during that year.

Section 3 -
If students from Washington Sate University, since our campuses are close, wish to be part of our team they should be given associate member status, along with past members of the club, and consultants.

Section 4 -
Membership is open to all University of Idaho students regardless of class, race, gender, color, nationality, degree, religion, veteran status, sexual orientation, or disability. 

Article IV - Officers

Section 1 -
The main officers of the club shall consist of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.  The organization has the right to appoint more officers if needed or consolidate if needed during the term.

Section 2 -
Term of office shall be from the day the officer was elected to the day of the next election of the new term.

Section 3 -
Removal of an officer can be made if officer is always absent or not doing their duties.

Section 4 -
Removal of Advisor can be made by following the voting procedure described in Article V of the constitution.  A new one can be appointed if needed.

Section 5 -
Duties of officers shall be defined at the beginning of each new term.

Article V - Elections

Section 1 -
Elections shall be held in the first meeting of the fall school term.  Members are to be informed and notified of meetings dealing with elections.  Absentee ballots are allowed if a member can not participate.

Section 2 -
If vacancies occur, lower officers may succeed or the club may vote/appoint a new officers if necessary.

Section 3 -
Procedure of voting shall be a majority of the current members to enact decisions or elections

Article VI - Meetings

Section 1 -
Meetings shall be voted on for time and place with at least a minimum of meeting once a month.

Article VII - Affiliations

Section 1 -
Affiliations with other local clubs or organizations like the American Radio Relay League (A.R.R.L.) are subject to vote by the club.

Article VIII - Amendments

Section 1 -
This constitution or the associated by-laws may be amended by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the total voting membership.  Proposals for the amendments shall be submitted in writing at the regular meeting or distributed a minimum of seven (7) days before the next regular meeting by means of communication to all members, and be voted on the next regular meeting.

Section 2 -
The president may refer any proposal to a committee of members, selected by the president, for study and recommendation.  The committee must then be prepared to report to the membership at the next regular meeting.  The vote on that proposal may then be taken at that meeting.

Article IX - Rules

Section 1 -
Roberts' Rules of Order shall govern all proceedings of this club.

Section 2 -
Roberts' Rules of Order may be waived by a vote of those attending members attending in order to facilitate and/or promote discussion.

Section 3 -
Club By-Laws shall be passed and enforced by the club.
