SUNDAY, AUGUST 3, 2008

Welcome to our first annual CALLEVA Adventure Race! Calleva Adventure Race 2008 was a great race for those new to the sport as well as for seasoned athletes looking for a challenge. Teams had 9 hours to complete the course. No navigational "plotting" experience was required. If you could read a map, you could do this race! Rogain style orientieering check points spiced up the course for the fastest! Preplotted maps provided by Calleva.

Distances:

  • 5-15 miles of running, trekking, orienteering;
  • 15-20 miles of mountain biking;
  • 5-10 miles of mostly downstream flat water canoe paddling with navigation around islands; - team Challenge.

Specifics:

  • Canoes, PFDs and paddles were provided by Calleva.
  • Free prerace orientieering clinic was provided by Victor Lin
  • CALLEVA style challenge! You'll never forget it!
  • Prizes for top 3 team placements in each category.

 The Inaugural 2008 Calleva Adventure Race was a total success. Thanks to our sponsors:

Feedbacks from the racers:

  • Thank you very much for putting on a great race. I was especially amazed at your ability to control the weather and give us a low humidity day in August! We had a blast and look forward to the next one.
  • We thought you put on a great race. We only wish that the challenges could have been in the middle of the race so we would have had plenty of time to complete them.
  • Thanks for a really enjoyable weekend. And thanks for putting some nav into the race.
  • Great race!!! Can not wait to do it again next year.
  • Thank you for the amazing race you put on this past Sunday. Incredible inaugural race!
  • We had a great time. Many many great things to say, amazing group of volunteers (and a lot of them) loved the "real orienteering".
