A Word from the Pastor
Dear Friends in Faith,
Welcome to our service this morning. I am glad that you are here. Last week we heard the story of Esther and learned that God is not mentioned in the book of Esther at all. I asked you to think about God’s presence in the story of Esther. Today you will hear my views. After the worship service, let me know if I leave any out!
Blessings and Peace, Pastor Deborah
LAST DAY! Prayer Journal for Our Troops
Please sign the prayer journal TODAY! We will send this prayer journal to the UCC home office TOMORROW, where they will be blessed during weekly worship in the Amistad Chapel. They will then be shipped to our UCC military chaplains serving in Iraq. The troops should receive them during the season of Lent, which begins on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 6.
BBT (Breaking Bread Together)
MONDAY NIGHT DINNER (BBT) is offered at St Timothy’s each and every Monday evening starting at 5:00 pm for anyone who wishes to come. Starting Monday, January 15th, there will be a contemporary worship service at 6:00 pm. What a wonderful ministry!
The Annual Meeting of the congregation of the Lakeville United Church of Christ will be held Sunday, January 27th, 2008, immediately following the morning worship service. At that time we will elect officers, receive annual reports, and vote on the 2008 budget. Congregational concerns and church business may be brought up at this meeting.
Blankets of Love/Tools of Hope
Blankets of Love/Tools of Hope is this month's mission. Blankets of Love/Tools of Hope is a program of Church World Service which helps support people throughout the world, including the United States, particularly during times of natural disaster and offers after care for emotional support and rebuilding of lives and homes. For each $5 raised, LUCC helps with the purchase of a blanket, shovel, rake, or hoe. As of Jan. 6th our total stands at $90. If you would like to support the Blankets of Love/Tools of Hope, please use a pew envelope and write "Blankets or Tools" on it.
Thank you
Thank you for filling the grocery cart again last Sunday! Your donations will be welcomed on the Livonia Food Pantry shelves!
New 2008 Giving Envelopes
New 2008 Giving Envelopes are available in the Central Office. If you would like to use the envelope giving system, please contact Marcia Parsons or Cindy Davis. There is no charge for the envelopes.
News from Livingston Country Coalition of Churches
Did you know that several months ago a dairy farm was raided in the middle of the night and the workers were taken to a detention in Batavia? These workers provided their employers with documentation. The farmers abide by all labor laws, i.e. these workers are earning more than minimum wage. Yet, because they are Hispanic, they are considered being harassed and detained. They live in constant fear.
2008 God’s Creation Calendars are here!
Please accept this gift from the Deacons. You can pick them up outside the office. (1 per family)
Prayer List
If you would like to have someone on our Prayer List please fill out a pew card (include your name) and put the card in the collection plate.
Let us pray for our families, World Leaders, those serving in the military, those who have served our country and have been wounded, those suffering from cancer, those recovering from operations, those recovering from trauma or accidents, those who suffer from alienation or ill-will, those who don’t have enough to eat, and those who need work.
