Expedition Diary:
We left home at 8am and picked up local contacts at 830. The group of us hired a truck and headed to the harbour. We got there at 1130am. When we got there, we had to hire a boat to transport the cargo to the ship as it was docked away from the harbour.
The ship sailed at about 2pm and we spent the next 28 hrs on the ship; we only got to laputta at 530 pm the next following day. However, we were not able to make contact with the locals who were supposed to meet us there so we were forced to stay the night as it was impossible to find a boat to take us to Pyinsalu. Unfortunately, we found some difficulties in finding accommodation as all the guest houses have been block-booked by NGO's and other organisations.
We managed to get the help of a family to let us use a room in their house to store the cargo for the night, but as for us, there was nowhere to where we could rest our heads. So we spent the night at one of the local teashops.
The next morning, we hired a boat and started our journey. We got to pyinsalu at about 1230 pm. We started our distribution at kwin thone sint village then resumed our trip to kan sate village. From there, we went to ka-na-ka-mar village and kan-sate-ywar -thit.
Here is the route we went through in the water
Latputta ----Latputta river-----Ahlan Tayar
stream---------Kan Saint stream---------Pyan-ma-lot
river--------Ganan-lay stream----Latputta
As we were on our way back to Laputta, the boat's engine failed so we spent the night in the stream on the water and waited for the next morning, hoping that there will be passers-by. There was no dinner as we had not expected to stay for the evening. Lucky enough, we found a boat in the early morning so we got back to latputta. From there, we took a bus back to Yangon.
