Letter of Intent for Community Chair - Saru Mahajan

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

I am a Senior Consultant with Capgemini, a consulting firm, where I have worked with several small- to medium-sized companies in strategic planning and technological solutions. I work with these companies to establish or restructure their operational and technological infrastructures, both within and outside their home country. My role allows me to be a facilitator between the various business units with the client's company and be a facilitator between the offshore resources within Capgemini. At Capgemini, I have worked in various industries such as telecommunication, automotive, wireless and pharmaceutical. Prior to joining Capgemini, I had worked with Dish Network as a sustaining engineer, where I coordinated with supply chain, factory, call centers and engineering, to resolve product-specific issues. My responsibilities included assembling technical information for a product and facilitating the logistics of its production.

I moved to Boston a few months ago but before the move I had been a very active member of the Atlanta community. I have volunteered for various organizations such as Child Relief and You, Habitat for Humanity, Hands on Atlanta and ASHA in Atlanta. Some of the projects
included repairing home for the elderly during the Christmas season, fundraising for children in India and planting trees around the metro Atlanta.

I have served on the planning committee of Society of Women Engineers to organize discussion panels and provide mentorship to women engineer's at Georgia Tech. I have also volunteered for Forte Foundation MBA programs and High Museum of Atlanta in previous years.

In addition, I was on the NetIP board as a Public Relations chair in 2006 in Atlanta. I have been attending NETIP Atlanta since 2004. I enjoyed serving on the board as I saw the value of working with the South Asian community to build better relations not only within our community but with the Atlanta community. My main role was to get sponsorships for our events and help with various events. We organized 3-4 events on a monthly bases and included new features such as the book club and special events for married couples.

I am interested in community service events chair as I would like to become a part of the NetSAP- Boston community, and work towards showing NetSAP commitment towards the community in Boston and India. I have worked on previous community service events so I have ideas on how to get NetSAP members to become more enthusiastic in participating in these events. In addition to working on the board, I have ideas how to help with membership for NetSAP. For example, introductory dinner for new members who joined NetSAP or individuals new to Boston in the last month or hold a special welcome meeting before a major event.

I hope I have presented my case and my interest on serving on the NetSAP board as the community service events chair. In case you require additional information, please feel free to reach out to me.

Thank you.
