Letter of Intent for Sponsorship Chair - Rashi Mittal

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to officially declare my intent to run for the Sponsorship Chair for NetSAP-Boston. I believe that I have the qualities and skills to make an effective impact in this position.

I was born in India, and moved to Los Angeles, California when I was 13. After that I had the opportunity to receive my Bachelors in Economics and Public Policy from Stanford University. After working for a year as a management trainee at McMaster-Carr Supply Company in
Los Angeles, I decided to pursue law at Boston University School of Law (BUSL). I just recently graduated from BUSL in May of 2008 and have passed both MA and NY Bars.

Currently, I am working as a judicial clerk at the Massachusetts Superior Court, where my job entails research and writing. I have the opportunity to work directly with numerous judges in this rotational program and I also draft numerous decisions. I hope to pursue my career in commercial litigation.

Since high school, I have constantly been on the board of various South Asian organizations. At Stanford, I was a special events chair and produced numerous shows. In Law School, I was on the Board on South Asian Law Students Association (SALSA) and had the opportunity
to network with numerous attorneys. As the treasurer of the club, I negotiated with numerous vendors and was able to enlist funds from various sources for our events. Currently, I am on the board of South Asian Bar Association Greater Boston (SABAGB) and Stanford Club of New
England (SCNE).

I went to my first NETSAP event last year and was very impressed by the caliber of people who are a part of this organization. I would be honored to be a part of this group. I believe that Sponsorship Chair requires negotiating as well as networking skills. I am sure that my
work experience at McMaster-Carr, my current job and my work with various South Asian organizations has placed me in a position to be an effective Sponsorship Chair.

Sincerely,
Rashi Mittal
