EXCEL SPREADSHEETS


You will find the high and low temperatures for 5 cities, using the Internet, and prepare an Excel spreadsheet and graph on the data.


1. Using the weather worksheet below, write in the names of 5 cities anywhere in the world.

2. Go to any of the Internet sites below and find today’s high and low temperature for each city and write in the worksheet above.



3. Open Microsoft Excel.


4. In cell A1, type My Weather Spreadsheet.


5. In cell A3, type City


6. In cell B3, type High Temp


7. In cell c3, type Low Temp


8. In column A, begin typing the names of the cities you selected. For

example, in A4, you would type your information in place of the

Daytona example. DO NOT TYPE THE DAYTONA INFORMATION.


9. Save the spreadsheet – in YOUR EXCEL STUDENT FOLDER ON THE SERVER – as Weather.


Formatting Your Spreadsheet


1. Click on cell A1. Click, hold down, and drag your mouse to highlight columns B & C. You should have Row 1 – columns A, B, & C all highlighted.


2. With Row 1 still highlighted, merge and center by clicking on the button on the toolbar. Your title will center across columns A, B & C.


3. Click on the My Weather Spreadsheet title.


4. Click on A3.


5. Right-align cells A4 – A8.


6. Compute the Average temperature in Column D and label this column appropriately.



Time to Chart the Temperatures!


  1. Prepare a Bar Graph of your choice using the information from the sheet you designed above.


  1. Chart the Averages only using a Line Graph.


  1. Move the graphs so that they are side by side and below the spreadsheet.


  1. Print the entire contents of your Workbook in landscape orientation.
