Raising $$ for the Idaho Bird Observatory: If you are so inclined, 100% of ALL DONATIONS will benefit the Idaho Bird Observatory’s fall migration study at Lucky Peak (which includes conservation related research, population monitoring, and environmental education – see IBO website for further details). Specifically, the donations will go towards covering food and other expenses for our very valuable but underpaid field crew members working on songbird, hawk, and/or owl migration projects. People can support the Idaho Bird Observatory in one of two ways: direct donations or pledging (details below).
Direct Donations (mail or online) Note: while possibly a little less fun/exciting than throwing your support behind Heidi or Jay (see ‘Pledges’ below), donations would be most helpful to the 2009 migration research efforts

Pledges
Supporters can choose to make a pledge to donate an amount of $$ contingent on the number of bird species we actually observe (similar to a Bird-a-thon format) AND supporters can choose to pledge money in support of Heidi’s list only, Jay’s list only, or to the grand total of bird species seen by Heidi & Jay combined. For example, a supporter can decide to pledge, say, $1 for every bird species seen by Heidi (or Jay). Because we each won’t likely be able to make many trips out of southwestern & south-central Idaho, we predict that we will each see somewhere in the neighborhood of 250-275 bird species this year. Thus, we suggest pledging rates anywhere from $0.10/species and up. For example, if you pledge in support of the grand total and we see a total of 250 species, a pledge of $0.10/species would be $25, a pledge of $0.50/species would be $125, and a pledge of $1.00/species would be $250.
To make a pledge, please send an e-mail to Jay (jaycarlisle@boisestate.edu) and Heidi (heidithebirdnerd@yahoo.com) to let us know what you’d like to pledge and please provide a mailing address. Then, once the year & competition ends, we will contact you and ask for the pledged amount.
As pledges come in, we will post updates and a bar graph showing who (Jay or Heidi) has raised more $$!!
