Students and teachers at DISHS are being encouraged to create Google accounts to facilitate enhanced communication and coordination of school related information. Google provides access to a wide range of tools that students, parents and educators can utilize to strengthen and support education and life-long learning in our school community. Students and staff members at DISHS are being asked to create Google accounts so they can access these tools and take advantage of the educational capacity they enable. Students are being ask to create a personal Google account that is associated with the school (Ex. dishs.smithamy@gmail.com). Most students already have personal email accounts and some have Google Gmail accounts, but we are asking them to create these accounts specifically for use as a school resource. Before creating their account, we are reminding students of the Internet Use Policy that they have signed and the Student Code of Conduct. Use of their school related Google accounts should always be shaped by these policies and guidelines (We hope that they help shape all online activity by students, in and out of school).
Teachers, please inform the office (Kasie) that you have asked students in your class to create accounts. She has a letter that needs to be sent home to parents, informing them that we are asking students to create Gmail accounts for school use.
You are being asked to create a personal Google account for use as a student at DISHS. The first step is to create a Gmail account. The username and password created for your Gmail account will provide access to many other Google tools and resources. This account should be used ONLY for school related work and projects. Use should be in accordance of the school's Internet Use Policy and our Student Code of Conduct.
When you create your account, use the following name format for your "Desired Login Name":
Graduation Year . last name and first name: (Example)2010.lastfirst@gmail.com
