Status of On-Going Work

1. Hospitality – The committee seems to be very motivated to putting on “Hospitality Days”, once each month.  Stuffed Potatoes and Bagels are a big hit.  They are increasing the cost of Bagels to $50 to members who just want to pay for refreshments but don’t want to help do the labor.  They are short on Volunteers for September and have zero cleanup volunteers.

Special Needs for the Boards’ Attention -  Committee members were puzzled over the board’s response to not have the service associate help or take charge of hosting if there is no host for their special day, or they have special requests.

The committee wants some input or feedback from the board on the lack of volunteers: no signups for future dates, difficulty in getting cleanup done, prep, buying, setup, and take down of the social hour.

2. Caring Connection – The Caring Connection met with Rev. Pallas Stanford on Sept. 17 at
the Fellowship.  The purpose was to acquaint her with our Mission,
Goals and Procedures and discuss ways in which we can best work
together. We will all meet again on
October 30 at 11 a.m. in the
UUFSCC Gallery to continue our discussion and we are inviting our
Board Liaison, Patt Taylor, to join us.

During the past month, as usual, we have kept in touch with members
of the Fellowship who are ill or housebound and may have needs.  This
information has been forwarded to the rest of the Fellowship as
requested by the mentioned members.

Status of On-Going Work

3. Art/Design -  Main Wall Project  - The committee has been trying to connect with the artist but the artist is not responding to inquiries.

The Committee reviewed the year’s calendar regarding the scheduling of Artist’s Exhibits.

1)      The current exhibit has been installed.  2)  They currently have art exhibits lined up through January, 2009.  3)  The “Totem Project” is completed.  4) The bronze UU Chalice has been installed above the pair of entry doors to the Fellowship Sanctuary

The Art Committee is continuing to work with the Social Action Committee to obtain a Memorial Bench for the front patio.  The cost of obtaining and installing the bench is not anticipated to be from budgeted funds.  Costs will be covered by the donations of those desiring a name to be carved in the bench.  Any monies received after the cost of the bench has been recouped would be additional income to the Fellowship.

The Committee’s exploration of the idea of creating a “Tile” workshop has been put on hold for the time being.

New Efforts Being Planned

1)      Poster Project  2) Tile Project

Special Needs for the Board’s Attention

There has been some negative input from Ed Newman regarding the artwork and the Art Committee has responded to his questions.  Ed Newman wants the Congregation to discuss the item.
