Minutes of the Sacramento Valley Returned Peace Corps Volunteers’ Board Meeting
November 6, 2007

Members present:  Faith Boucher, Fran Kennedy, Steve Riggs, Bruce Sandie, Nancy Sinnwell,
                        Audrey Wiechman
Members on leave:  Debra DeBondt
Members absent:  Mark Stivers, Heidi Steger, Jim Waters

 1.  Approve minutes of the October 2nd meeting
        -motion by Steve, second by Bruce, approved
 2.  Treasurer’s report
        -rebate membership - $135 from National
 3.  Golden 1
        -switch for banking in progress
        -needed to redo the paper work
 4.  Adventures in Dining
        -October was at the Korean Buffet on Folsom Blvd.
                -nicely done, authentic, food was so-so
                -about 13 attended
        -November 16th - some possible restaurants to consider
                -Table 260 -southern meets cajun -2745 Elk Grove Blvd
                -Greek Village at Munroe and Fair Oaks
                -Peruvian restaurant at Futon and Cottage
 5.  Speakers and Recent Events
        -University Women - Faith spoke about Peace Corps and Global Poverty
        -Arden Dimick Library - 6 to 8 PM - Peace Corps recruiting seniors
        -UN Association Annual Dinner
                -130 people attended - 12 models including Faith, Jack, and Fran in outfits from various countries
                -Fran sold 14 calendars
                -Nov. 19th - lunch event at Albert Einstein off of Wyda Way -lunch at 12:00 and presentation at 12:40
 6.  Calendars
        -about half to sell
 7.  Community Service Projects
        -no ideas at this time
        -some local ideas:  Wonder, Inc. - mentor foster kids; Big Brothers, Big Sisters, adopt a refugee family and help them, Opening Doors
 8.  Project Funding
        -need to do more research
        -FINCA
        -SHARE
        -Ashoka
        -orphanage school - AMA - in Nepal  (Dave Fulton)
        -check into local funding
9.  Christmas Promise
        -December 8th - 12:00 -2:00 and 2:00 - 4:00
10.  Mid Winter Diner
        -January 12th - first choice
        -January 26th - second choice
        -start at 5:30 PM
        -at Sierra 11 - 24th Street
        -entertainment - Peace Corps recruiting movies
        -ask attendees to make a donation to cover cost for rental, etc.
        -authorize Audrey to pay for Sierra 11 - motion by Bruce, 2nd by Faith, approved
        -set up calling committee for inviting people to attend - next meeting
11.  Membership
        -follow up on getting the Harris Guide for new people
                -only mail them to people without e-mail
        -end acknowledgment to people who have recently joined
