Minutes of the Sacramento Valley Returned Peace Corps Volunteers’ Board Meeting

Members absent: Veronica Rodriguez, Heidi Steger, Mark Stivers
1. Approved minutes of the June 5th meeting with two corrections
-meeting was opened by Bruce
-delete no quorum as 5 is a quorum with Debra on leave
-motion by Fran, second by Bruce, approved
2. Treasurer’s Report and Finances
-Fran needs a check for $100 for the deposit for the swim club
-motion Nancy, second Faith, approved
-Nancy needs a check for the calendars
-motion Bruce, second Fran, approved
-decision to switch bank from Merchant’s to Golden 1
-will require two signatures of the following three people:
President, Vice President, Treasurer
-motion Fran, second Faith, approved
3. June Camping Trip
-Faith and Fran attended
-about 40 people with children included in the count
-had a great time and some made T-shirts with Marlene
4. Adventures in Dining
-July - Vietnamese Restaurant on Broadway - Pho Bak
-about 8 attended
-August - Fran and Faith will coordinate it
-El Salvadoran Restaurant on Northgate is a possible location
5. Foothills Picnic will be on August 19th
6. American River Clean Up will be on September 15th
-contact Mary Ann Robinson to sign up
7. Annual Meeting - Saturday, September 22, 2007
-at College Greens Swim and Racquet Club
-3:00 PM to 8:30 PM
-swimming and activities from 3-5
-dinner from 5 - 7
-speaker at 7
-details for the event
-Heidi - bring beverages such as soda and beer - be sure to use cans, not glass
-Everyone - bring own meat and potluck items
-Faith - plastic utensils, etc.
-Heidi and Fran - tablecloths (Fran will not be attending)
-possible speaker - Leisa Faulkner from Children’s Hope Project in Haiti
-send a post card
-mention that we need new board members, new project
funding ideas, and new local project ideas
8. Project Funding
-discussed Children’s Hope Project in Haiti

-motion to give Children’s Hope Project $250 care of Leisa Faulkner
-motion by Faith, second by Fran, approved
-decided to give $100 to Solar Cookers International
-motion by Bruce, second by Jim, approved
9. Community Service Projects for the coming Year
-National Public Radio - Nancy will get information
-check web sight - Hands On Sacramento
-Dixon Migrant Center - needs volunteers in the computer lab - check with Faith
-Arts in River Park - May 10, 2008 - set up International Taxi
