1. ADVENTURES IN DINING – At 7:00 on Friday, August 15 we will meet at Queen of Sheba for Ethiopian food. The restaurant is at 1704 Broadway, near 17th Street, on the south side of Broadway. Dinners range from $9-$12. There are many choices for vegans. Check out the restaurant’s website:

2. ANNUAL PICNIC IN THE FOOTHILLS – AUGUST 17, FORESTHILL PARK – This park has a swimming pool and lots of playing fields, BYOB and barbecue. Please contact Howard Koons at

3. ANNUAL MEETING SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 20, 3:30-8:00 AT COLLEGE GREENS LAWN AND TENNIS CLUB, 2707 Notre Dame Dr., (corner of Notre Dame and Lake Forest). Bring something to barbecue and potluck side dishes, drinks will be provided. Kids swim from 3:30, barbecue time at 5:30. There will be a Board election, and at 7:00 we will have a speaker from Friends of Yimbo, the Odipo family foundation from Kenya. Please contact Fran Kennedy for info,

4. BOARD OF DIRECTORS POSITIONS OPEN – We have vacancies on the Board, and need new projects for the group. If you are interested in guiding the organization please contact President Audrey Wiechman at

5. PROJECT FUNDING – This cycle we are considering supporting educational projects in Kenya. If you have any pet projects or suggestions for projects that need money, contact Steve Riggs (Africa projects)

6. AMERICAN RIVER CLEANUP – On Saturday, September 20, the annual Great American River Clean Up clean up will be held from 9am to 12noon. The Sac Valley RPCV group meets at the Howe Ave. site, which is just off Howe Ave. on the south side of the American River (directional signs will be posted by 8:45 a.m. that morning). 7. PEACE CORPS REUNION AUGUST 2008 – FT. COLLINS, COLO.
Dear Peace Corps Enthusiast,

The excitement is growing, as more events and speakers for the Peace Corps & Friends Celebration are being confirmed.

We are sending this update to you in the hope you will share it with your Peace Corps colleagues to make sure they don't miss out on the fun in Fort Collins, Colorado at the end of August!

Registration will continue at $125 through August 21st, thanks to generous underwriting from our Downtown Development Authority. And, day rates of $50/day are now available for those who cannot be with us all weekend.
