No need for down time in New Media. Here are some ideas for things to do.
Every day you should be actively researching a long-range story for
print, learning how to use publishing software, studying how to be a
better student journalist, working on a multimedia story, or publishing
on Youth Voices.
- Work on your monthly story for the paper. It should have
multiple sources, be well-researched and tell readers things they don't
know.
- Proofread someone else's story.
- Shoot video and edit it into a story for JMTV.
- Record audio and edit that into a podcast for Judge Radio.
- Learn how to use PhotoShop, Illustrator, or InDesign using the books in the Media room.
- Work on selling an ad.
- Voiceover stories. Find some footage and record an audio track to help tell a story.
- Read a post on Youth Voices, comment on it
- Go to your Google Reader account. Write a post on Youth Voices about what you've been reading today.
- Go to Google Reader. Localize a national or international story.
