Field Trip
I remember when I was a kid in Sunday School and my teacher would take the class out on a “field trip”? The field trip usually entailed walking around the church and naming everything we could see that God had created. Later that day my parents would ask me what I had learned. As I grew older the intricacies of the detail put into a simple leaf blew my mind. I remember thinking that if God put so much time and care into that, how much more He must really love and care for me. Somewhere between then and now I let stress and frustration and busyness cloud my vision. During the past 2 years He has taught me to once again open my eyes and look for all that He has done around me. I don’t need to ask Him twice for Him to show me all the ways He has woven together the intricate details in my life. In fact, it is all sitting right there for me to go out and find. I still go on “field trips,” only now it isn’t with my Sunday School class. It is usually just me and the Lord. He walks me through my life and His word and continues to show me things that He has created – relationships, family, love, healing, joy, and salvation.
I encourage you to go on a field trip with God if you haven’t in a while. Even if you have taken one lately – go out and do it again.
“The Heavens are yours, the earth also is yours; the world and all it fullness, you have founded them.” – Psalm 89:11
“but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever.” - 2 Peter 3:18 (NKJV)
What can you see that God has created? What have you learned about God today?
