Resource: Interview (one sheet for each child),   Pencils,   Resource: Game cards (printed on black/grey, red, white, green, and yellow paper and cut apart)

Before Big Group

1. Explain the following, writing the big idea below on the chalk/wipe board:

The big idea for today is "Tell the good news about Jesus." We'll find out more about what this means in big group time.

2. Divide the children into groups of two. Hand each group one Resource: Interview sheet and a pencil. Have one child interview the other child to find out the answers to the questions on the sheet, writing the answers down on the sheet as he/she goes. When finished, allow the children who did the interviewing to, one at a time, tell the others about the person they interviewed using the information from the sheet. If time allows, have the children repeat this process, switching interviewer and interviewee.

After Big Group

1. Explain the following:

Our big idea for today is "Tell the good news about Jesus."  John the Baptist's job was to tell people to get ready for the Messiah who was about to come. Our job is to tell people that the Messiah, Jesus, has already come. We need to tell them the good news that Jesus died to pay the price for their sin.

2. Set the game cards in a pile face down in the center of the table. Have each child draw seven cards. Use the cards to play the game of "Uno" with the children, with the following change: each time a child lays down a card, he/she must say what that color card represents in the wordless book or else he/she must draw an extra card: Black: Sin and death, Red: Jesus died, White: Our sins are white as snow, Green: Grow like Jesus, Yellow: Streets of Gold

3. Hand each child a journal page. Have them fill it out, writing down the big idea "Tell the good news about Jesus.'” and how they can use it in their life (Examples: I can tell one of my friends about the good news of Jesus.) Place the page in their journal binder.
