Verse

Materials

3 cups,   Coin/ball,   Table

Setup

Place the table in the middle of the teaching area. Place the items on the table.

Activity

1. Write the verse on a chalk/wipe board and read it as a group once.

2. Explain the following:

Our big idea for today is "Jesus came to save us from sin."  In this verse, Jesus is called "The Son of Man."  Jesus came to find those who've lost their way and save them.  To help us remember this, as we learn or verse, will play a game called the shell game, where we'll hide a ball under a shell.  You'll have to look for it and save it just like Jesus looks for those who've left God and saves them from sin.

3. Erase one word from the verse and read it through as a group.  Have one child come up.  Place the three cups top down on the table in a line.  Placed the ball under one of the cops, and begin switching the positions of the cups by sliding them on the table.  After a few second of this, have the child select the cup that he/she thinks contains the ball.  Turn a couple over to show him/her if he/she was right.  If the guess was correct, the word was saved. Write that word off to the side of the board.  Repeat this whole process until all the words are erased.  Have the children tally the number of words they "saved."
