Emperor Napoleon III Sent An Army Led By General Lorences And Also Supported By The Conservative Party In Mexico. They Landed At The Port Of Veracruz With 6000 Soldiers, And Headed For The Forts Of Loreto And Guadalupe That Were Defended By General Ignacio Zaragoza With 4000 Poorly Armed Men. The Battle Lasted From Noon Until 4 Pm, When Lorencez Gave The Order To Retreat. The Triumph Was Total For The Mexican Army On The Fifth Of May, 1862, Led By Generals Zaragoza, Berrizabal, Lamadrid, Porfirio Diaz, Antonio Alvarez, And Miguel Negrete. | |
