1. I read through the articles and books, and i watched the video clips. Web 2.0 seems to be very exciting and "user friendly" - especially since it is constantly being adapting to the all the users of the web. Blogging is an interesting idea. Before this assignment, I've never created a blog. However, I have visited blog sites and read lots of blogs beforehand.

2. I used Google reader. Here is my RSS feed OPML.

Much to Blog About Nothing

Nothing, Nothing and More Nothing. Just Kidding, I’m Sure There is a Point HERE.

This is my first blog. I do not plan on talking about anything too exciting or too intellectual. I plan on talking about what is required by the assignment accompanied by some subjective opinions and a little rambling. These are only some the the uses of a blog - informing, giving opinions and rambling. The reason for this blog and post is to familiarize myself with blogging, creating blogs, and all the different features and options with various blog sites - and maybe present a little useful or interesting information. So far, I find blogging kind of interesting. Blogs enables anyone and everyone to post their thoughts and ideas on the web for the whole world to read. In order to post, one does not have to be rich, special, an intellect, young, a computer geek or belong to any other specific life sector. Blogs are available to anyone who has access to a computer.

The word blog is a portmanteau of “web log.” I have read and heard over a dozen definitions for the term blog. However, I find that Tim O’Reilly offers a very concise and easy to understand definition. He suggests that a blog is software that enables easy edition of HTML languages and helps people edit content easily without having to know and remember all the various HTML codes. It’s basically a personal publishing platform without the need for web editing experience. Although I am new to the blog world, I currently agree with this definition.

One of the most interesting and useful features of blogs is the rate at which information can be shared with the online world. As soon as information is posted on a blog, it is available to the entire online community. With blogging, information can spread at an exponential rate. All kinds of ideas and information can be shared - such can occur almost as fast as it actually occurs.

I think that blogging can be useful to all kinds of different people. The different uses and advantages of blogging quite obvious after reading some literature. However, there are also some draw backs to blogs and blogging. Perhaps I will talk about this in my next post. Thanks for visiting!!

Off the wall thought:

EXTRA CREDIT (or whatever): I did sign up for Twitter. My user name is: JLShust

I though it was kind of interesting. I think its a fun way to keep up to the VERY minute with friends or whomever. I like some of the features. However, I'm not sure I see the practicality of it. There are more convenient ways to keep in touch such as traditional instant messengers or text messages or myspace.com. But, maybe i just need to play around with it more to see the real advantages.
