West Coast Birthday

IDEA ORIGINATION

The idea for this flight came out of a note sent to me by a model RR friend. He was scheduled to travel to the west coast to attend a family reunion and a 50^th birthday party for his younger sister and thought I might enjoy flying him to the west coast.

FLIGHT BACKGROUND

You are dispatched to pick up Mr. Daniel Mulhearn and his wife Nina at KBLF Bluefield WV for a flight to KSAN San Diego CA. The clients will arrive at the airport at 1100z. Be ready for immediate departure for KSAN. Mr. Mulhearn has requested that the on board refrigerator be stocked with a selection of light snacks and a good Australian Shiraz wine. Make certain that the food list is one that will complement this wine. Mr. Mulhearn has requested that you stay over in San Diego and be ready for return to Lewisburg with departure late the following day. The client has indicated that he has arranged all ground transport at both ends of the flight and will be met by a family limo at KSAN. Make certain that the food and wine is restocked for the return flight. This flight must arrive on any Saturday and depart on the following Monday at 0400z (local time is UTC minus 7 hr). Note to flight crews: Because KBLF is located nearby (1.5 hour drive time) Greenbrier Virtual Aviation cannot pay overnight costs for flight crews. You will need to leave Lewisburg early Saturday morning, or make other arrangements at your own expense.

PLANNING CONCERNS

As PIC you are responsible for planning all aspects of the flight. I feel it will be necessary to plan at least one fuel stop in each direction. Please see Airnav (http://www.airnav.com ) or other site listing airports and area restrictions, many are in effect at KSAN. This should be a rather simple, but long, flight. Please send me a small set of JPEG screenies of your flight so that I can make up a small “scrapbook” of the flight for my friend to enjoy. Post your flight screenies as per usual if you enjoy doing that. We all seem to enjoy seeing them.

I would suspect that this flight will be best flown by jet aircraft, due to the distances involved. You do not need to finish this flight in one sitting, take your time and enjoy the scenery.
