HSC’s Coach’s Player Safety Pledge

• I will ensure the safety and welfare of all players on my team whether at a practice or a game.

• I will ensure at least 1 coach or HSC assigned assistant is in attendance at every game and practice. Under no circumstances will the players be left under the supervision of anyone other than an HSC approved coach or assistant, with the exception of a medical emergency as outlined below.

• Professional coaches, skills development instructors and the like, as may be provided by HSC from time-to-time do no exempt me or my HSC assigned assistant(s) from being in attendance at all times.

• If I or my HSC assigned assistant(s) cannot be in attendance, then the practice or game will be canceled or rescheduled as appropriate.

• I will keep emergency contact and medical information available at all practices and games. I understand the confidential nature of this material and will ensure that only HSC coaches, HSC assistants or responsible adults in an emergency situation have access to it at all times. I will obtain this information prior to the season start from the age group coordinator.

• I will ensure that at least 2 responsible adults (Coach and HSC assigned Assistant Coach or Player’s Parent) are in attendance at all practices and games. Only HSC assigned coaches and assistants may be on the player sideline during a game. In certain emergency situations another player’s parent may be needed to supervise the players while the coach attends to medical or other critical emergencies. For this reason, scheduling practices on fields with other teams is preferred.

• In the event of a medical emergency, I will take appropriate action to contact the player’s parents/guardians and if needed emergency response personnel immediately. In the event a player must be transported for medical care, I will ensure either their parent/guardian or coach/ assistant coach accompanies the player at all times. This may require the coach, assistant coach or another parent to stay with the remaining players to ensure their safety and account for their being picked up by parents/guardians.

• If at any time during a practice or a sanctioned game, I deem that my players’ safety is in jeopardy, I recognize that I may cancel the practice or the game as may be necessary. This includes safety issues due to poor weather, opposing team’s play being too physical or any other reasonable safety issue.

• I will ensure no child is left behind at the end of a practice or game. If necessary I will make arrangements with player’s parents for situations where the parent/guardian is a “no show”.
