IoFlex BlackBox is a "scan to print ready" application - think of it as the opposite of a RIP - Users begin with 600ppi scans of hard copy printed documents and convert them into multi-layered PDF files optimized for on demand digital printing or or traditional sheet-fed, heatset offset or high speed web printing.

IoFlex BlackBox offers a single simple dialog box to adjust settings where type becomes 1 bit (Black & White or a spot color) and the images are descreened and become 8 bit (if greyscale) or 24 or 32 bit (RGB or CMYK)

IoFlex BlackBox software design conceptualizes scanned pages as single-object pages within a PDF, and from there cut and transforms the page into multiple objects (becoming more similar to a traditional vector-constructed page), for example allowing differential treatment of text and images on the page.

As a PDF-based makeready solution, true vector files can be just as easily manipulated, bringing over some traditional scan-based operations to the vector world; for example, one can use our software to align the pages of vector PDF produced originally via the likes of Quark or Word, or one can apply a printer calibration curve to all image objects, etc.

IoFlex has a top drawer reference list of high-end printers, including IBT, LightningSource, Edwards Brothers, RR Donnelley, Bertelsmann and many more.

Here is a link to an article with background information on that long-tail play by one of our larget contents, BiblioBazaar, who is soon to be the largest publisher in the world through use of our software in processing of out-of-copyright materials

Besides IoFlex BlackBox - BiblioBazaar have a significant install of IoFlex BlackBox and the Acrobat plug-ins for manual intervention. They have highly modified / customized the Atiz system to make a unique system that they offer to libraries.

The IoFlex web site does not yet reflect the plug-in technology we are now shipping - this new IoFlex BlackBox solution was designed for environments with "less" skill levels where a need for automated processing and efficiencies outweigh the need for "manual pixel-pushing" pre-press experts.
