IMPORTANT DATES:

University Day 2010 Committee Descriptions

Finance and Sponsorship- While the entire committee will be involved in fundraising; the finance committee will organize the fundraising process and work with the chair to create the budget. It is important for this executive member to have the willingness to learn how university accounts operate and can work with the Office of Student Life to manage the accounts.

Show-and-Tell- On the day of the event, student groups table in the EMU Amphitheatre walkway.  The committee of Show-and-Tell would need to invite student groups to table and talk with students about being involved on campus as well as organize the set up in the EMU.  We started Show-and-Tell two years ago and hope to recruit even more student groups this year.  This committee will draft invitations and meet with student leaders to recruit their participation in the show-and-tell.

Check-in- This committee will evaluate the check-in process for volunteers and create streamlined processes for check-in.  This includes recruiting volunteer staffs, deciding where stations will be, and working with Facilities to communicate before and on the day to ensure setup for the day of the event the campus.

Campus Project and Historian- University Day always includes a large-scale campus project created to improve the campus in some way.  This committee will be in charge of designing and funding a project on campus that will better the physical campus (map station, sitting areas, landscape, etc.). Also a goal for this committee this year is to document the history of the event. This is the longest running tradition on the UO campus and we hope to document the things that it has done for the school.

Design and Marketing- This committee’s has two main responsibilities. The first is designing the annual t-shirt that will be provided to all volunteers. The second thing that they must focus on is marketing the event to everyone on campus.  The committee will work on designing posters, signs, and flyers to encourage participation from faculty, staff, students and alumni in University Day.

Entertainment- This committee will be recruiting campus music and performance groups to entertain volunteers in the EMU Amphitheatre and check-in area.  The entertainment committee may work with other campus offices, such as the Cultural Forum, to schedule events.

***Every committee member will help fundraise around the community
