Course Description:

This workshop is presented by the University of Houston College of Technology Engineering Technology Department and IOCOM.  This course is a one-day HANDS-ON workshop that introduces participants to next-generation communications technology and a new, more inclusive approach to distance learning, or distributed learning.   The morning session will provide an introduction to the latest open-standard multimedia technologies and their impact on distance learning, while the afternoon session will include hands-on demonstrations of next-generation video collaboration technology and how it is used in distance learning. 

About the instructor:
John Harrison has worked as a collaboration technology and grid communications consultant for over 6 years and an AV system designer for over 10 years.   John has helped design and deploy collaboration and distance learning systems for global energy companies and universities in the US, Europe, and elsewhere.   John holds a B.B.A. form the University of North Texas.
