FUNKMATION STUDIOS & KALI-RA PRODUCTIONS

PRODUCE PUNK ROCK ANGEL GIRL FOR POP STAR JEWEL AND NICKELODEON AIRING THIS FALL

 

 

August 14, 2006----Punk Rock Angel Girl, starring the voice of Jewel airs this fall on Nickelodeon. Funkmation Studios (www.funkmation.com) and Kali – Ra Productions (www.urbansouptheshow.com) wrapped up development and production on the 2-minute pilot for Nickelodeon Networks and pop music recording star Jewel this summer. Punk Rock Angel Girl is the story of a girl with a rock band, super powers, and a mission to protect teens every where from the evil, mind numbing, clutches of MEGACORP.  

 

The 2 minute pilot which was directed by Jean Pierre Dillard of Funkmation Studios was produced by Nikon Kwantu and Geeta Gandbhir founders of Kali Ra Productions and Mr. Dillard. “The entire production was done in house here in NY. We used a combination of traditional animation done in Flash and After FX for all of the animation, compositing and special FX.”

 

This will be the third collaboration between Funkmation and Kali-Ra. Jean Pierre Dillard, President of Funkmation and Nikon Kwantu, of Kali-Ra recently completed work on another show for Nickelodeon entitled Pinky Dinky Doo which currently airs on Noggin at 10AM and 3PM on weekdays and is Noggin’s 2^nd highest rated show. Jean Pierre Dillard, President of Funkmation was Animation Director on the series and Nikon Kwantu, of Kali-Ra was Production Coordinator.

 

Currently, Kali-Ra Productions and Funkmation Studios have seven separate short animations that will run on this new season of Sesame Street which had its premiere Monday, August 14. “We’re delighted to be producing work for Sesame Street. Still undeniably the greatest kids show on air,” says Director, Jean Pierre Dillard.

 

We’re very excited about the work and the relationships we’re developing with

Nickelodeon and Sesame Workshop and we look forward to additional collaborations in the future. Additionally, we are talking to other companies about properties we currently have in development.

 

Funkmation Studios, implemented in 1995, is a full service production company specializing in 2D animation and founded by Jean Pierre Dillard.  Dillard has 15 years experience in the animation industry. Jean Pierre was lead animator on the Oscar nominated short, “Chicken from Outer Space” which became the hit show (Courage the Cowardly Dog on Cartoon Network)

 

Kali – Ra Productions is a production and post production company specializing in animation and live action, Founded by Geeta Gandbhir & Nikon Kwantu.
