The Stuff that Rarely Changes
Of the 30 WPMU admins to respond to the survey, 27 are male, and 3 female.
All 30 provided the year of birth. Here are the statistics for age, computed by substracting year of birth from 2006: mean, 30.80; standard deviation, 8.12; median, 30; mininum, 17; maximum, 53.
All 30 provided country of current residence. Here they are, grouped by continents.
- North America: 15 (USA 13, Canada 2).
- Europe: 9 (Italy 2, UK 2, Austria, Denmark, Ireland, Norway, Switzerland).
- Oceana: 4 (Australia 3, New Zealand).
- Asia: 2 (Malaysia, Singapore).
- South America, Africa, and Antartica are the other continents in the seven-contintent model I'm using. I received no response from any of these continents. I know of one WPMU host in South America, and of none in Africa or Antartica.
The data for country of birth are similar, since 26 of the 30 currently live in their country of birth. The moves are: UK to Australia, UK to NZ, France to Switzerland, Germany to Austria. Hence the births by continent are as follows: North America 15, Europe 11, Oceana 2, Asia 2.
Family
Of the 30 respondents, 13 identified themselves as single, 15 as married or otherwise partnered, and 2 did not respond to the question about marital status.
All but one answered the question about number of children. The median number of children was zero, since this was the response from 18 of the respondents. Here are the other statistics for number of children: mean, 0.76; standard deviation, 1.21; maximum, 4.
Education and Occupation
I asked about highest formal educational level. Here is my categorization of the responses.
- High school: 9.
- Some college: 8.
- Associate's degree: 1
- Bachelor's degree: 5.
- Some graduate school: 1.
- Master's degree: 3.

- Technical: 11.
- Student: 5.
- Managerial: 3.
- Entrepreneurial: 2.
- Sales/marketing: 2.
- Creative: 2.
- One response each in the following categories: administrative, educational, homemaker, retired, no response.
